Unable to refresh SQL Server Datasets on Datasources set up on On Premise Data gateway.

The scheduled refreshes are throwing the below error since 19/05:

Any help would be appreciated as the error is not clear to me.

Thank you.

Hi @abhiman,

Does the issue happen to refreshing Excel with on-premise data? This is a known issue here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/support/

q1.PNG

If it's not, please download the same report, reduce data model and ensure it can be refreshed in Power BI desktop, then publish as a new report. On Power BI service, please ensure the gateway and data sources created under gateway are online and the new dataset has been configured to use the gateway fine, then refresh the dataset.

Best Regards,

Hi v-qiuyu-msft ,

Thanks for getting back to my post.

My responses to your queries below:

Does the issue happen to refreshing Excel with on-premise data?

The issue is only occuring on On Premise SQL Server Datasources not with excel.

The issue did not occur prior to 19/05, scheduled and on demand refreshes where successful until 18/05 on these datasources.

If it's not, please download the same report, reduce data model and ensure it can be refreshed in Power BI desktop, then publish as a new report.

- Yes I have tried that, still having the same issues.

On Power BI service, please ensure the gateway and data sources created under gateway are online and the new dataset has been configured to use the gateway fine, then refresh the dataset.

- The Gateway is online and the connection test for the datasource is also successful.

Not sure what else to check or what could be causing this issue?

Can you advise what the below error on the gateway indicates?

Microsoft.PowerBI.DataMovement.Pipeline.Diagnostics.DataMovementExtensionNotLoadedException: Mashup extension kind is not loaded TemplateMessage: Mashup extension SQL does not load into Mashup Engine

GatewayPipelineErrorCode=DM_GWPipeline_UnknownError ExtensionKind=SQL
