Custom format strings reset when you modify a measure formula

I create measure A, then use a custom format string to format it in the Model view.

When I change the DAX formula of measure A, its format goes back to some default format, and my custom format string is gone.

This is clearly an issue -- custom format strings must be preserved when modifying DAX formulas.

Hi @DMM

Would you please share detail steps for us to reproduce the issue?

@v-qiuyu-msft here are the steps

  1. Create any measure, for example like so:
    Measure = 1
  2. Go to the Model view
  3. In the Properties pane, click Formatting > Format > Custom. Entering the custom format string is not necessary to reproduce the issue -- it is sufficient to specify the format as Custom:

  4. Go back to the Report view and change the formula of the Measure measure, for example like so (I just changed 1 to 2):
    Measure = 2
  5. Go to the Model view and note that the format has been reset to Whole number instead of Custom:
