Custom Visual in Downloaded Report from Service Showing Incorrect Version

Power BI Desktop Version: 2.53.4954.481 64-bit (December 2017)

I experienced this bug after downloading an older report (.pbix) from the Power BI Service. One of the visuals was created with the Infographic Designer v1.5 custom visual, but was broken and had an incorrect configuration. When hovering the custom visual in the Visualization's picker it shows version v1.6:

I then reproduced the bug in a new report with the steps in this recording:

One final note on some problems I had reproducing this:

  1. Initially reproduced in existing and new report
  2. Could not reproduce in Power BI Desktop - October Release (2.51.4885.701 64-bit) when creating a new report.
  3. Double checked the downloaded report in December release, visual worked, and showed the Inforgraphic Designer 1.5 was installed.
  4. Waited an hour.
  5. Checked the same report in December release an hour later and reproduced the bug again.

Hi @v-jiascu-msft,

No one else on my team was having this problem

I tried rolling back to different versions but it didn't resolve it.

The final solution was uninstalling Power BI Desktop, deleting the "C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop" folder, and then reinstalling.

Thank you,

Brad
