Can't publish app with only workbooks

Hi,

 

I cannot Publish an App that contains Excel Workbooks only. I get this error when I try:

When I add a pbix report to it, it publishes just fine. Then I have to remove the pbix report and update the App and it then does what I wanted it to begin with.
I found a workaround, still it's a bit annoying bug.

Hi @Anonymous,

 

Which app workspace do you use, old version or new version? 

Does the issue happen to all Excel Workbooks or only the specific one? 

 

I tested both in old version and new version app workspace, if there is only one Excel workbook, it's able to publish the app workspace as an app. Please test again on your side. Also you can test with this sample Excel workbook to see if the same issue occurs.

Hi,

 

No problem with the Financial Sample data you linked.

The problem appears once the Excel file has data stored in Data Model.

 

1. Using this Financial Sample spreadsheet, go to Data -> Get and Transform - >From Table/Range.

2. Then "Close and Load to..." -> "only Create connection" and tick "Add this data to the Data Model".

3. Insert -> PivotTable -> "Use this workbook's Data Model" and "New Worksheet". Then create a Pivot showing units sold by county (as an example). Save workbook.

4. Add to an emply App Workspace and try to publish it.
