Bug when uploading files using multiple tenants

My PowerBI account has access to multiple tenants. One tenant is my default tenant and the other tenant is the one of another organization. When I open PowerBI Service, I can only see the workspaces of my default tenant. I was able to access the other tenant's workspaces by placing the TenantID in the URL (https://app.powerbi.com/home?ctid=<TenantID>). By doing this I am able to access the workspaces, however the view is completely different than the usual PowerBI overview, as I don't see the ribbon on the left side:

I can access the workspaces by searching the names in the top right search field.

Since I can't access two tenants in PowerBI desktop, I need to upload reports and datasets in PowerBI service. However, the buttons of this do not seem to work. When I am in the workspace, and click on 'New', none of the buttons works when I click on it.

Other buttons such as 'Schedule Refresh' also do not work.

Is there anyone who knows how I can solve this, as this is a big limitation for me at the moment. I tried to do this in both Chrome and Edge, and in both browsers also in Incognito.

Hopefully there is somebody who knows how to fix this.

Hi,

You said that you have access to two tenants, which means you are the guest user of the tenant outside your own tenant, right?

If you are trying to go to the guest tenant, you can get the tenant URL in the “?” then About Power BI:

What’s more, you need to check if the guest tenant have enabled the “Allow external guest users to edit and manage content in the organization”, which will also affect your settings.

Hello @v-robertq-msft ,

Is it always the case that when you have access to 2 tenants, that you are a guest user in one? Or is it possible to be a normal user in both?
When I click on the ? and 'About PowerBI', I get the TenantId of my main tenant. I do not have a problem with the workspaces in my main tenant. In Azure Portal I found the TenantId of the other organization, and it is in their workspaces that I have problems.
I will check with their admin if they have that setting enabled.

Hi,

Yes, it’s different if you go into the tenant of which you are a guest user of and it depends on the tenant settings of the guest tenant you go to.

Here are the documents about the guest user rights in the Power BI tenant, you can refer to these links:

Thank you very much!

hello @v-robertq-msft ,

The problem has been solved. Apparently I was not added to a certain security group yet, which resulted in the different view.

Thank you for all the information.
