Analyse in Excel through app for shared datasets

Hi,

When trying to give my users the option to use "Analyse in Excel" for a shared dataset, the "Analyse in Excel"-option remains greyed out. This remains the cave even when I assign build rights on the shared dataset (which is in another workspace) to the users. In other apps, where the reports are build on a dataset that is in the app, the user can use "Analyse in Excel". The only difference in permissions here is that the user has the App & Build permissions, while on the shared dataset this is Read & Build. Is it possible that the problem is in the integration between Analyse in Excel and Shared Datasets?

Best,

Eva

Hi @E__

Please check if Export Data and Use Analyze in Excel with on-premises datasets feature are enabled for your users, see:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/admin/service-admin-portal#export-data

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/admin/service-admin-portal#use-analyze-in-excel-with-on-pr...

Also please take a look at requirements of using Analyze in Excel: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-analyze-in-excel#requirements

Hi @v-qiuyu-msft ,

Thanks for your reply. I've double checked all the admin settings, but they are all as they should be. Both features are enabled for all users. The same user is able to analyse in Excel in another app, so this shouldn't be the problem.

The requirements for Analyse in Excel are also met: the dataset is in a capacity workspace, and the app with the report is also from a workspace in the capacity. I've also granted build permissions to the user. When comparing the difference between the app in which the user can user Analyse in Excel and the app where they can't, the only difference I can find is the fact that the second is on a shared dataset.

Best,

Eva

The latest update in the service seems to have solved the issues.
