Allow a field formatted as 2019-08-16T00:00:00 to be viewed as a date

I have date fields in my database in the format 2019-08-16T00:00:00. They appear in my visual as a text. When I try to model them as a date, the visual will not refresh.

Hi @colin_sutton,

You can go to Query Editor in Power BI desktop, select the column, change its data type to DateTime then to Date type, apply the change to data model by clicking Apply button.

Hi Qiuyun,

That doesn’t work for me: “This query contains transformations that can't be used for DirectQuery.”

- my data is coming from an Oracle Database. I worked around it by reformatting the item in my Oracle SQL query.
