REST API - Two-stage request

Hi,

First question from a Power BI newbie here (I have searched but couldn't see anything quite like this).

I have to create a data source of multiple tables from a web app that presents a bespoke rest api.

Each view is a seperate call, each call has to be preceeded by an authication request.

So, taking the standard Sales type model, I need the SALES, CUSTOMERS, PRODUCTS and STORES data

So, the conversation goes like this:

https://server.com/api?user=jdoe&password=XXXXXXX

That returns a JSON result that contains {AuthKey:64bitKey},{TransactionID:LongInt}

The next request would then be

https://server.com/api?auth=[AuthKey]&TransactionID=TransID&view=SALES&criteria=WhereClause;

Which returns the data

Rinse and repeat for the other views.

What's teh bext way to attack this?

@PerryW,

Please take a look at the following similar blog about how to use authkey returned by previous request in Power BI.

Thanks, I don't understand it yet (working on it) but it looks like I should be able to adapt that approach
