Problems with Power BI data import from SSAS

Hi

I have a data model in SSAS. I can connect to it happily using 'live connection'. I see all the tables, and their relationships appear to be in place (I can't see this directly in 'live' mode of course, but reports join as expected).

However, if I try to load some of the tables in 'import' mode, I get something completely different. The SSAS 'cube' is called 'model'. If I import (say) two tables called Account and Opportunity, I get in PBI two tables called 'model' and 'model1'. The fields in each of these tables are named as concatenations of the table and field names (e.g. Account.name, Account.gender etc.)

Also, no relationships are built between the tables.

Can someone explain what's going on and how to get my model to import correctly please?

Thanks, Chris.

Hi Chris @ccfpcl2 ,

I am facing the same issue as yours. I tried to 'Add items' to the model to add more tables to sove the issue, but this again did not create any relationships in the model as in tabular. On top of it i get not enough memory error and data load fails. How did you resolve the issue?

Thanks

Anusha

Hi @ccfpcl2

Do you connect to SSAS Multidimensional models?

If so, please read through this article to know features and capabilities of Power BI and SSAS MD connections.

Here is a guide video "Using SSAS Multidimensional As A Data Source For Power BI (Video)"

Best Regards

Maggie

Hi Maggie

No, it's a tabular model. Sorry, I should have said.

Best Regards, Chris.
