Out-of-the-box connectors for SAP?

Are there any plans to have out-of-the-box connectors to SAP (Cloud Applications) in Power BI?

SAP connectivity is a broad topic but given the fact that SAP aaplications touch in ssome way or fashion about 80% of all world's business transactions, out of the box connectivity to SAP is very important.

I would break that connectivity in the following categories (in order of priority from my opinion)

  1. SAP BW - SAP Business Warehouse is go to BI asset for many SAP companies  and Power BI has to seamlessly consume all BW objects (BEx Queries, Infocubes, etc)
  2. SAP ERP (ECC, R/3) - could be useful for occasional access to SAP altough could be frowned upen by IT deparments who will be concered with putting too much stress on the SAP back end
  3. SAP could apps  - connectivity to a slew of SaaS applications that SAP required of the last few years
  4. SAP Hana - although I would rather make SAP do the development work necessary to integrate with Power BI or at least make their ODBC driver work without issues

The existing BobJ connector is NOT the answer for most of the SAP connectivity use-cases today.

Currently no but SAP connectivity is frequently requested and highly ranked.

In fact I was thinking more of the Cloud (SaaS) Applications like Business ByDesign: http://go.sap.com/product/erp/business-bydesign.html

Get an overview of their offering here: http://go.sap.com/solution/cloud.html

This is a totally different offering.   BO universes are like a metadata model on top of data warehouses, views,  etc.  The way it works for Power BI now is that you must have  1) A BO universe on top of your data  2)  A BO web server (Apache) running the BO 4.x software or above to relay the data from the Universe.    You can create a universe on top of one of these other SAP data as well and then leverage the Power BI connector for SAP.    they are the same company so I am sure that may be available.

SAP Business Objects BI Universe data source is supported already. Do you mean that?
