Multiple datasources and connections on API

Hi everyone!

My company is developing an web application, we want to work with Power BI via API or Embedded, the thing is, we have multiple costumers with different data on same structured datasources, on SQL. I'm using on-premise data gateway to connect my datasources online, but can i set different datasources to the same reports, dashboards according to the costumer's login on my application? Power BI its the best solution so far we encountered but we really need this to attend our needs.

@PaolaFarias,

Do you want to achieve that when user signs in application, he can change data source of the report embedded in the application? If so, according to my knowledge, it is not possible.

Lydia

@PaolaFarias,

Do you store different data for different customers in different SQL Server instances and different databases?

If so, in Power BI Desktop, you can consider to create a Power BI report template(PBIT) with data source parameters, then send the PBIT file to your customers . The customers can instantiate the PBIT and generate report with their own data, after that, they can publish the PBIX file to Power BI Service.

For more details, please review the following  blog and similar thread.

Ok, thank you very much, but unfortunately it doesn't attend to our needs now.

Yes, exactly what we are trying to do. See, we are a SaaS, and our costumers don't have time or knowledgement to change the datasources to see their reports... Anyway, we have found some products on the market that makes it possible. I have posted this suggestion on Ideas page already, hope power bi can support us on the future.
