How to publish a subset of data but have connection to the whole datasource?

Hi all,

I have a table with 16 mln rows from a database connection. It takes me several hours to update the table. Is there a way to establish a connection between Power BI App and the database without publishing all the data?

I mean, after I publish a sample of the data (filtered, for example the first N rows) as a PBI dataset with DirectQuery, may I then have connection to the whole data source (unfiltered, with all rows) through this PBI dataset?

Thanks in advance

Hi @Anonymous

With direct query, you have a connection with the datasource for Power BI,

Then you could create parameter to filter data to show in Power BI.
