Data Source Credential error upon using OAuth 2.0 to Refresh Exchage Server Online data

Hello,

 

I am trying to Schedule Refresh for my dashboard which gets data from Exchange Server Online. The settings I am using are:

Gateway Connection: Direct Query

Data Source Credentials: OAuth 2.0

 

I see the following error with respect to the Data Source Credentials:

Failed to update data source credentials.

You need to use SSL (HTTPS) when you use OAuth 2.0 authentication.InkedSSL error.jpgHow can I configure SSL (HTTPS)?

I successfully resolved this issue by checking the following checklist:

  1. Enable pop-ups in your browser.
  2. If you are not using Microsoft Edge and the error persists even after enabling pop-ups, try using Microsoft Edge.

I was having the exact problem using Firefox. I switched to Microsoft Edge. I was able to change data sources with OAuth2 normally by connecting to the Power BI Service through the Microsoft Edge browser.

With me the error was only noticed when using Microsoft browsers. Switch to Google Chrome and it will probably work. I was able to change data sources with OAuth normally by connecting to the Power BI Service through the Google Chrome browser.

The problem can be easily solved by using a different browser. Microsoft Edge is recommended for using Power BI service. 

I am getting the same problem.

  • I am using Edge browser (also a problem in Chrome)
  • have an https:// SharePoint URL
  • have no trouble connecting using the same credentials in Power BI Desktop.

Ok, the previous M Query attempt did not fix the problem.  I still get this error:

I'm also getting the same issue when trying to refresh Kusto data. Has anyone found a solution yet?

 

My scheduled refreshes are failing. When I try and "Edit Credentials" under Data Source Creditentials in the Dataset tab, I get an authentication dialog box. When I click sign-in, it creates a lengthy URL, yet the redirected link merely generates a pop-up that asks if I want to close the window. 

 

Any help is appreciated.

I believe I've found a solution.  Try the instructions here which gets Kusto data through an M query instead of through the Kusto option under Get Data:

Good morning,
I get the same error: 

"You need to use SSL (HTTPS) when you use OAuth 2.0 authentication."
The link I am using is a https and other colleagues can use the OAuth and it works.  Any solution?

I am experiencing the same problem and moreover, my file path  has https and its still giving me this error. The url works fine when i use it in Power BI Desktop to create reports.  Please help me find the solution.

Hi @raksha_v,

 

When you use Microsoft Exchange Online data source in desktop, can you enter credential successfully? When you enter credential in service, please use Fiddler to capture http(s) traffic and share .saz file here.
