It's great to see efforts to support SSAS MD in latest PBID Nov release but unfortunately in our context it doesn't work. We are using an ssas server on a vm on Azure accessed using xxx.cloudapp.net. This approach works fine in Excel where you can also specify the desired user as opposed to automatic win auth (which doesn't seem possible in PBI Designer). When trying SSAS connect in PBI Designer I get "could not connect to server" error message.
This issue still persists and has been reported 4 weeks ago. Could anyone from the dev community at least confirmt this is a known bug/expected behaviour?

is your azure vm connected to a domian?
Update to previous incorrect statement: the vm is part of a domain and again: it works in Excel why not in Power BI???
