Cannot connect to local MySQL database.

Hi All, I press get data and select MySQL datatabase.

I get the following message:

"we encountered an error while trying to connect. the connector cannot be used because you are missing one or more required components.".

The Learn More link took me to the MySQL site to download

mysql-connector-net-6.6.5.msi.

I downloaded that and nothing happened. I restarted my machine as well, no dice.

Windows 10, 32 bit office, 32 bit power BI.

Thank you.

@sois Ignore that link and instead download x64 bit MySQL connector and install yourself. I have seen before where doing that has fixed the problem.

Try to check environment variables in your system and add server bin url  (c:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 8.0\bin) there. It should resolve.

if others have this problem try the following install the 8.0.30 version https://downloads.mysql.com/archives/c-odbc/  and the 8.0.32 version https://downloads.mysql.com/archives/c-net/  I have no idear why this works but it does

I am useing Version: 2.116.763.0 64-bit (april 2023) of Power Bi and im on Windows 11

I tried to connect power Bi with both 32 bit and 64 bit MySql connector . but non of them worked ,everytime getting an error that "this connector require one or more component" .

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

my current MySQL installation (5.7.19) installed the Connector/NET 6.9.9; this produced the wellknown error.

Solution:

  1. using MySQLInstaller and uninstall the Connector/NET
  2. download version 6.6.7 from MySQL
  3. doubleclick the downloaded MSI-file for installing it
  4. any type of restart needed ? I don't know/remember

 Hope this discription helps

Hi everyone,

Can anyone help me.

I just installed Power BI, and I cannot connect with Mysql database, it had the same error like this thread. My lastest version is v.8.0.33.

I tried to download MySQL connector (the link is 32 bit), but when installed it not showed install, just show "repair, remove options", not have "typical" like some youtube video shared.

I tried many times, but it still happened, please help me! 🙏

Yo tambien tengo el mismo problema .😪
