How to find your publish to web URL

The Data Stories Gallery uses the latest “publish to web” feature to share your reports. Publish to web allows viewers to interact with your reports, including cross filtering between visuals and using slicers.

To find your publish to web URL:

  1. Open your report in Power BI Desktop.

  2. If you have not already done so, publish your report to the Power BI Service. (Need help with this? See the documentation.)

  3. Open the published report in the Power BI service. Select File > Publish to web.

  4. Select Create embed code, and then Publish.

  5. A dialog will appear with your publish to web URL. Copy the “Link you can send in email” and paste it into the Power BI Publish to Web URL field in the Data Stories Gallery submission form.

Re: How to find your publish to web URL

Hi there! I'm sorry you've encountered problems finding your publish to web code. It looks like you have some encoded characters at the end of that URL, namely "%3D". I think if you try again without them (use https://app.powerbi.com/view?r=eyJrIjoiYmI0NTU1YTQtODYxMC00N2ZjLWI4MDgtNzBiZWJkNjIzOWFjIiwidCI6ImJkM...), then it should work.

Let me know if you still get an error, and thanks. Smiley Happy

Re: How to find your publish to web URL

Hi Jessica,

I am having trouble with my 'publish to web' codes when submitting a showcase to the data stories gallery. I've tried about 3 different reports and none of my codes are excepted. For example: https://app.powerbi.com/view?r=eyJrIjoiYmI0NTU1YTQtODYxMC00N2ZjLWI4MDgtNzBiZWJkNjIzOWFjIiwidCI6ImJkM...

This works but I am unable to submit it. I keep getting a message suggesting that this address is invalid. I'm likely missing something but some help here would be great. Thanks

Re: How to find your publish to web URL

Unfortunately, I do not have access for "Publish to Web". Is there another way I can submit a pbix to the gallery?

Re: How to find your publish to web URL

I have the same issue. Could you please make the "Power BI Publish To Web" field optional and make the "Power BI Desktop file" mandatory?

Hi Jessica, I have the same issue as olesojg.

Is it possible to make the field optional?
