I am getting the following error. How to fix this? any help is highly appreciated!
I am using Windows 10, access 2016.
Details: "Microsoft Access: The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine. The 64-bit version of the Access Database Engine 2010 Access Database Engine OLEDB provider is required to connect to read this type of file. To download the client software, visit the following site: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=285987."\
Also, what is the purpose of the Acess database engine?

Please check the version of MS Access installed on your computer. Also check the version of PowerBI installed.
You should have the same version of PowerBI as your MS Office install.
The purpose of the database engine is to allow PowerBI to connect to MS access.

Hi, I have the exact same problem.
I run a Windows 10, with Access 2016 [v16.0.6925.1016 - 32-bit] and Power BI Desktop [v2.35.4399.601 - 32-bit May]
I have un/re-installed everything, but I still get the error message.

I sorted out my issue.
things to check :
- MS office 2016 32-bit
- Power BI 32 - bit
once you have the same 32-bit version, download and install "AccessDatabaseEngine" from the below link.
It works fine.
Let me know if you still have issues.
