Re: Lab 1 Exercise 2 - Changing Data Type to Date

You should have changed the column from text to date before filtering the date.

Re: Lab 1 Exercise 2 - Changing Data Type to Date

Hello,

We also encountered this error, but had a different solutoin.

For us, the fix was to change our Regional Settings to "English (United States)", rather than English(Australian). (Do this from the main menu > Options and settings > Options > Regional Settings)

The reason we were getting so many date errors was because PowerBI was trying to convert the dates into the Australian format of DD/MM/YYYY, rather than the US format of MM/DD/YYYY.

Once we changed our Regional Setting, the errors disappeared and all dates were converted correctly to Date type.

Kind regards,

Alice

Re: Lab 1 Exercise 2 - Changing Data Type to Date

Thanks a lot !! This solution worked for me.

I had the same problem and got it fixed after changing the locale from "English (India)" to "English (United States)".

Re: Lab 1 Exercise 2 - Changing Data Type to Date

Hi Everyone, I just figured. I also got stuck but here's what I figured:

First, Right Click on Date, Apply Date Filter (Is After  (12/31/1999), click OK

To get exact Row Count for International Sales

Go to Edit Query > Transform> Count Rows

Do it for International Sales, will get righ count

Then for both International and Sales In USA (Combine)

Do same for Sales Query in USA, Filterout  12/31/1999 date

Find out row for Sales query too. the way did fo international Sales

The Add Sales Query Count and International Sales count, that 's right answer.

 Hope it helps!

Re: Lab 1 Exercise 2 - Changing Data Type to Date

Thank you, this worked for me.  The international file wasn't translating the date.  I change the regional settings to US as advised and it worked.
