supportsHighlight not working after packaging visual

Hi,

we've developed a custom visual which uses the matrix data view mapping and now want to add highlight support to it. Everything works fine while we work with the developer mode (pbiviz start), but if we package the visual and try filtering the data, using the highlight mode, the visual stops working. It looks like the update method will not get called, we only get the loading indicator in the top left but nothing else happens. The breakpoints we set in the update methods won't get reached.

We are using version 3.1.15 of pbiviz and this is how the mapping in our capabilities.json looks like:

    "dataViewMappings": [
        {
            "conditions": [...],
            "matrix": {
                "rows": {
                    "for": { "in": "A"}
                },
                "columns": {
                    "for": { "in": ""}
                },
                "values": {
                    "select": [
                        {
                            "for": { "in": "B"}
                        },
                        {
                            "for": { "in": "C"}
                        },

                "defaultValue": true
            }
        }
    },
    "supportsHighlight": true

Are there any known issues, or are we missing something?

Regards,

Lucmax

I'd say that if the constructor is okay and it works in the dev visual, but not when packaged, then it might be something in the packaging process (or the visual host when not in dev mode), and therefore potentially an issue outside of your control. Have you tried flagging with the visuals team? If not, I'd flick them an email - pbicvsupport@microsoft.com

Yeah, i've send them an email and also opened a ticket on their github. I will post any updates for others to see on this post.

Hi @lucmax

If update's not being called, it could be worth checking to see if the constructor's running to completion. Do you have any breakpoints in there that you can confirm?

Hi @dm-p

Unfortunately the constructor is called and completed normaly. The whole visual works pefectly fine until I select data in a different visual (in my case it is the stacked bar chart from microsoft) that's supposed to highlight the data in my visual. No reload of my visual is triggered, the only thing I see is the small loading indicator in the top left of my visual.
