sharepoint

Hi All,

I have a PowerBI Report integrated in Sharepoint site. Following are the steps followed

Steps followed:

1. PowerBI Report was created and Roles were created with filters

2. Report published on PowerBI service

3. Users were assigned to Roles

4. Embedded URL of report was integrated in sharepoint (URL was linked to iframe in sharepoint)

Behaviour:

1. User logs in Sharepoint , PowerBI Report is not visible , msg appeared "This content is not available"

2. User logs in PowerBi Service in different tab

3. User refreshes page in Step 1 , report loads now.

The issue is users are not able to see the report unless they have logged in PowerBi service once. We have tested this for 4-5 users and functionality seems to be same. We don't want to request users to login in powerbi service separately. Has anyone faced this issue before? Any advice or help ?

@eagerBI

As I don't have much expertise on sharepoint, so I'm not sure if this(Integrate Power BI reports in SharePoint Online) is the only approach to embed a Power BI report in Sharepoint. I've followed the fore link and the RLS works good in my test.

Could you be more specific on the steps in your case to reproduce that behavior if you're not following the above link?

@eagerBI I would raise this up under the "issues" forum, but it isn't unexpected behaviour based on what i've seen in the forums. It would appear that utilizing Power BI in other applications (SharePoint) is more of an extension of the PBI Service rather than an independant offering. As such, a user would need to log in to Power BI at least 1x to register their account. Because you still need to share all the same content with the end user in PowerBI in order for them to see it in SharePoint. And in order for the Service to know if you have permission to access the content, your end user would need to be validated against their account...
