power bi not considering a date column as date data type from redshift

Hi Everyone,

We're connecting powerbi with redshift (DirectQuery), but It is showing the date column as text and even after converting the data type It's still working as a text data type and we've reviewed the data on redshift and it is a date data type (we've tried timestamp and date data type from redshift). Is there any solution for this.

Hi @Anonymous ,

You can try to transform it in power query editor. Keep in mind that the format of date will be the same as your computer system date format. For example, if the date in redshift is mm/dd/yyyy but dd/mm/yyyy in your machine. Then will detect it as text. So please consider converting the native format to one that is consistent with redshift.

I've already done that but It's still not creating the automatic hearchy of Year, quarter, month, and day like it does for other data sources.
