how to test pbiviz files efficiently

Is there a recommended way to edit and test custom visuals?

Currently I am testing them in Power BI Desktop while editing them in RStudio and running 'pbiviz package' at command line.

This is fine, but pbiviz package does not update the script while Power BI Desktop is running (and "pbiviz update" doesn't update the package at all apparently), even if I remove the Custom Visual from PBI Desktop environment, so every time I make an edit I have shut down Power BI, delete the pbiviz file manually and create a new package.

This is very time-consuming.  Any recommendations for speeding it up?

You can test R custom visual in Power BI service (powerbi.com) by using pbiviz start command.

Have a look at documentation to use it properly.
