Slow loading of reports in Dynamics 365 CRM

Hello everyone.

We are developing PowerBI reports which are to be integrated and displayed in Dynamics 365. The data we use comes from the CRM.

Our issue is that the reports take a very long time to load (one to two minutes), especially the first time they are opened. Now, this would make sense, if PowerBI first had to fetch the data, but the data is already there since its directly from CRM. What's also weird is that even after that first loading, it is still very very slow, as if it was still trying to get the data, which should be there 100% after the first loading.

Does anyone have any ideea what could be the issue? Does anyone have any experience with integrating PowerBI reports into Dynamics 365 CRM?

Hi  @DeliaG ,

How does the Power BI reports perform in the service before embedding in CRM?

As far as I know, Power BI currently only support us to Dynamic 365 by import connection mode.

For reference:Data sources C-D

For your embedding report, Power BI needs to get access token for your firstly and then calculate the querys in your dataset and load the data. If the size of your dataset is large, this will cause a bad performance.

You may refer to this offical blog to learn more details about how to optimize performance for Power BI .

Here I suggest you to try to export the data into Azure SQL database and built Power BI report from there for a Enterprise solution. With Azure SQL database, you can use Direct Query connection as well.

Best Regards,
