Problem with visual object "Image by CloudScope"

I have several Power BI that use the visual object "Image by CloudScope". Normally this extension works fine, but yesterday it broke. The "Image url" property is now empty, but two days ago everything was working fine. This problem affects Power BI hosted on the public node and desktop.

To fix the problem, I would have to go one by one completing the property.

Any faster solution?

Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous

I checked the CloudScope webpage and it does appear that this is due to a new release, where they have added additional functionality:

If you are still having issues after re-applying the field, you may want to request access to their beta visual.

Hey!

I had the same issue! Try downloading visual "Image by Cloudscope" version (2.0.4), which is a different visual to the one that's broken ("Image by Cloudscope" version 2.0.3). Replace any old version of the broken visual with the new one. No need to make any other changes.

I hope this helps!

Hi @Anonymous

I also had exactly the same issue yesterday.  I am sure I searched the forum for 'Cloudscope' before posting, yet I did not see this post until I marked mine as closed and it popped up in the Recommendations section?!

Did you get any where with finding the cause?

Thanks

Due to a recent change, the image URL has to be re-specified (manually), again. This would solve your problem.

Unfortunately, this does not help that much longer, as CloudScope is "not happy" with Microsoft and has decided to leave the Power BI universe: https://www.cloudscope.io/blog/view/cloudscope-ends-support-for-power-bi-custom-visuals

Does anyone know any other visual that would insert image from link, sharepoint link for example?

Hi DomagaJack,

>Does anyone know any other visual that would insert image from link, sharepoint link for example?

No. And according to CloudScope it cannot exist (or would not work well): If it is not certified, then the images are not printed/exported, e.g. to PDF/PPTX. If it is certified, then the rules for certification prohibit that the Visual loads images from external sources (and from my point of view anything outside PBI is external).

Maybe contact the third party provider?

You could check the Issues forum here:

And if it is not there, then you could post it.

If you have Pro account you could try to open a support ticket. If you have a Pro account it is free. Go to https://support.powerbi.com. Scroll down and click "CREATE SUPPORT TICKET".
