PowerBI Embedded - DirectQuery on Azure SQL not refreshing

Apologies for the recurrent topic, but searched and searched and couldn't find anything that helped.

I created a PBIX feeding from an Azure SQL through DirectQuery. When publishing that file on powerbi.com, the data connects perfectly and refreshes on demand, as expected.

I uploaded the same PBIX to a Workspace on Azure, followed the tutorials and sample code (ProvisionSample) to upload, authenticate and update the connection string for my new workspace. Published the Report on my web app, no problem. However, when the data changes in SQL, the embedded report doesn't update at all.

When focusing on a visual in my embedded report, a small header says: LAST REFRESH: [actual time]. This timestamp will keep updating as I log in from different sessions - however, the data itself remains unchanged.

What am I missing? And more importantly, how can I troubleshoot what is going wrong?

@drosas,

As far as I know, data refreshes are automatically reflected in your embedded report or visual. But it can take approximately 1 hour for refreshed data to be visible.

Thank you Sam. But see, that's the thing, the data is just not refreshing. I have a controlled set of test data and last week I did some small alterations to test the data refresh. So far, nothing has changed in the reports since the moment the PBIX was uploaded - even though the embedded visuals say that the data has been refreshed today.

Same tests on the same PBIX uploaded to powerbi.com, the data refreshes perfectly.

Are there any tools to troubleshoot the embedded data connection, and see where it's failing to update? I just don't know where to look at.
