Power BI slicer and other visualizations feeding off each other.

Hi,

We have a power BI report with several controls. the first two are slicers that are drop down lists. the first shows disciplines and the second shows the surveys for this discipline. When we choose a discipline it correctly shows all the surveys for that discipline on the second slicer. However, when we select a survey on the second slicer, it automatically updates the second slicer to show only the disciplines for the selected survey on the first slicer. we do not want this last operation to happen. we want the 1st slicer to always remain the same even when we click on the second slicer. We also have this requirements with 4 other visualizations that show grids from the database. we need a waterfall effect so when we choose the 1st row on the 1st grid it updates the second, but when we select a row on the second grid, it does not change the 1st grid. So it's some kind of a hierarchical information passing from one grid to the next but not vice versa. Can Power BI do this?
