New to Power BI

Hello ,

I am new to power BI and I am sorry in advance for a basic question and not doing propoer research before asking,

I am working with an organization and am responsible for the main website.  There is another department which is using powerBI for reports.

I want to show one of the reports on the website via Rest API . The website is built in PHP and not connected to power BI in any way.

Do I have to make an app in powerBI to access the Rest API ? or is there a simpler way ?

If you want to show a Power BI report in a website, you can either do a Publish to Web and essentially iframe it in or you would need to use Power BI embedded.

Publish to Web is zero security.

Well No , I dont want to publish directly to the web .  I only want the data from the report.

@usmanmalik,

Power BI report can be shown on the website in two ways as was mentioned by Greg:

1) Publish to Web. Report's link created in this way will be unsecured and can be shared with anyone. Details about this feature - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-publish-to-web

2) Embedding API. It is a secure method. See details - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/developer/embedding and interactive example from Microsoft - https://microsoft.github.io/PowerBI-JavaScript/demo/v2-demo/index.html .

Regards,
Ruslan
