Dropdown checkbox slicer

Hi everyone,

I need to have dropdown checkbox slicer. I found tutorial how to make radiobutton slicer, but not dropdown checkbox. How it can be done? Regular slicer doesn't work for me, since it has limited options on design altering.

Hello @ysapiyev,

Have you tried the Hierarchy slicer on the Office store ?

https://appsource.microsoft.com/fr-fr/product/power-bi-visuals/WA104380820?src=office&tab=Overview

It will provide you a dropdown checkbox slicer.

Keep me informed !

Best Regards,

Augustin

@augustindelaf,

I've tried it. My main problem with both hierarchy and regular slicers is design options. Therefore, I wanted to make custom slicer.

Regards,

Yerkhan

What do you mean by "design options"?

You want images on it, like on the chiclet slicer, right?

How would you like to have your own slicer?

Best Regards

@augustindelaf

By design options I mean that default slicer cannot be customized, change design of dropdown.

I would like to apply CSS to slicer. Functionality of regular filter is good, I need to change design.

I actually have a similar problem. I'd like to develop a custom visual and within that I'd like to re-use the checkbox dropdown (a.k.a. combo box) that the slicer uses.

To implement a cusotm visual for Power BI you should start here.

Sorry if I was not clear. I already have implemented custom visuals before. What I cannot do is find a way to RE-USE an existing control so that my control can behave consistently with other Power BI controls. My control is a more advanced slicer, and I'd like to create a dropdown with checkboxes that looks and behaves exactly like the existing slicer dropdown with checkboxes.

Does that make better sense?

You should use any custom library to render custom dropdown with checkboxes.

Actually this questions goes out of this forum.

That is exactly what we ARE doing because that is our only option. However, for a consistent UI it would be far better if there were a way to re-use the power BI standard controls within our custom visual.

PBI constrols are not available for custom visuals. You have to align styles manually.
