I have a button on my report, and Action Type = web URL and Web URL points to a word document in SharePoint. This works fine – when you click the link in IE, there’s a brief flash of a blank window which closes, then you click the “Open” in the gray bar at the bottom that appears, and the document opens. When you close the document, the report page you just came from is showing in the browser.
However, when you use Edge (which we are switching to as default soon) and you click the link, a blank tab opens and overlaid on that tab is the “Open this file?” box. You click Open and the document opens. However, the blank tab never goes away, so when you close the document, you’re looking at a blank tab that you have to close in order to see the report again.
Is there any way to formulate the url in the report to get Edge to act like IE and have the blank tab (window in IE) close automatically when the word doc opens? I tried using window.open() but the behavior is the same.
Thanks for any help!
