why the word first is added automatically to my new column name

After creating a new column with UNICHAR(11044), the word 'first' is automatically added to its column name in the fact table. Any help will be appreciated.

Hey @Anonymous ,

this is because you added the column "signal" to the Values band of the Matrix visual:

As the column is of non-numeric data type the aggregation function is used "First".

Maybe you want to place the column on the Columns band?

Hopefully this provides some additional insights.

Regards,

Tom

@parry2k Thank you for your help. As shown in the screen shots, I created a column entitled "signal" with unichar(), then added the column to the matrix table. Then all of sudden the word 'First' was added to the label.

@TomMartens thank you for your reply. I've now realized why the word 'first' was added.

But the values band is the right place because the unicode character in the column changes its color to signal each row's performance.

Hey @Anonymous ,

this makes perfect sense, you just have to be aware that a non-numeric column used on the value band has to be aggregated as this is the "faith" of columns (numeric/non-numeric) used on the value band.

Just simply rename the column, so that it no longer shows the name of the aggregation function in front.

You might also consider to create a measure instead of a column.

Regards,

Tom
