using parameter values in visual filter

Dear experts

I have a requirement. I have defined a parameter named Para in the query editor and applied the same on column C1 , in Table T1.

In the dashboard, i have a visual based on Table T2, this table has column C2 which has similar values of Column C1 of Table T1.

I would likt to use the value selected in parametre Para and apply the same filter on Column C2.

I am trying to use VALUES(Parameter[Para]) in the visual filter on Column C2, but its not working. Could anyone help me how to capture the value of a parameter and use the value to filter another column? ANy help will be appriciated.

Thanks

Raj

try this:

add new column :

Filter c2 = if(t2[c2]=Values(para[para]),1,0)

and in visual filter use where "Filter C2" = 0

why you cannot use the parameter in query editor to filter records in t2 as you did for t1?

Thanks for the reply. Since there are other visuals based on T2, i cannot filter at query editor level. Hence looking for way to filter at visual levels.

try this:

1. Turn on Enabled Load on edit queries for parameter.

2. Add new measure called "filter c2" in your table t2,

filter c2 = sum(c2) - values(para[para])

, assuming para is a number parameter and c2 is number column as well.

3. Add "filter c2" measue to visual filter and chooise the filter condition, like "Filter C2" is greate than 0

Hi Parry2k,

Thank you. You are close to my requirement. Columns are text.

I would like to use this

values(para[para])

in Column C2 Visual filter. Is there any way to do this?

When i use Values(Para[Para])  in the visual filter its not considering.

try this:

add new column :

Filter c2 = if(t2[c2]=Values(para[para]),1,0)

and in visual filter use where "Filter C2" = 0
