top n ranking

Need help with the syntax:

My Version:  Rank = RANKX(FILTER('Dim Dates','Dim Dates'[YYYY_MM]=EARLIER('Dim Dates'[YYYY_MM])),'Incident Trends'[AvgTTD75%],,1)

Online sample

Rank = RANKX(FILTER('Table1','Table1'[Year]=EARLIER(Table1[Year])),'Table1'[GDP],,1)

Can I use 2 different data sources to determine the ranking?

It errors on my version on the name of EARLIER tablename.fieldname.

Karen

Hi @kfschaefer,

RANK function can to works with multiple tables with relationship to analysis. EARLIER function works on calculated column, you can't direct use it in measure formula.

For your scenario, you can try to use SELECTEDVALUE,MAX,FIRSTNONBLANK or other similar functions to instead.

My Version:  Rank =
RANKX (
    FILTER (
        'Dim Dates',
        'Dim Dates'[YYYY_MM] = SELECTEDVALUE ( 'Dim Dates'[YYYY_MM] )
    ),
    'Incident Trends'[AvgTTD75%],
    ,
    1
)
