table relations

I have a problem setting up specific table relations.

I have 3 tables: value entries, item category, product group

Following data as an example:

Item categories:

1: wooden beams (related product groups “softwood” and “hardwood”)
2: wooden boards (related product groups “softwood” and “hardwood” - the same!)

In my table value entries I have both fields “item category” and “product group”.

I didn’t find a way to set up relations like this:
Item category -> product group 1:n
Product group -> Item category n:m
value entries -> product group 1:n
value entries -> item category 1:n

Does someone have an idea how it might work?

Hi @Anonymous,

If you have the dimensions [Item Category] and [Product Group], you don't need to repeat them in the [Value Entry]. I think the relationship should be like below.

One category has many groups, the groups are in the [Value entry]. Please refer to the snapshot below.

Hi @Anonymous,

Please share a sample that we can download or copy. Don't share anything private.

Just see from your description, there could be some loops. Maybe you need to adjust your model.

Hey,

can you please prepare an Excel with sample data. Each table in a different sheet and upload the file to onedrive or dropbox and share the link.

Regards,
Tom
