syncing slicers without numeric values

Hello all,

I'm working on a report which reports employes by name, their ORG codes, and their locations. I've created slicers by ORG Code and Location so the table will display the list of employees based on the slicer selections. I want to set it up so the slicer options will apply to each other. For instance, the slicer options are:

ORG Code                 Location

Transmission            Seattle

Demand                   Portland

IT                              Boise

There is only one employee in Boise who is part of the Transmission Team. I want to be able to select Location = Boise and have ORG Code slicer display Transmission only while the table displays the employee name, ORG = Transmission, and Location = Boise. All the examples to accomplish this I've found so far require a measure to establish the link between slicers.

Your help is appreciated,

Neel D

hi @Anonymous

I think ORG Code and Location slicer is from two dim table, So please keep the cross filter direction is "Both" in the two relationship.

@Anonymous  - Seems to me that your Org Code would need two columns and you would list the locations for each Org Code, like:

Transmission Boise
Transmission Seattle
Demand Portland
Demand Seattle
IT Portland

Then you could create a relationship between your slicer tables.

I'm assuming a lot and not sure I fully understand. Please see this post regarding How to Get Your Question Answered Quickly: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/How-to-Get-Your-Question-Answered-Quickly/ba-p/38490

The most important parts are:
1. Sample data as text, use the table tool in the editing bar
2. Expected output from sample data
3. Explanation in words of how to get from 1. to 2.
