sharing dashboards vs reports

I am fairly new to the world of excel and power bi, although I have devoted a tremendous amount of time in learning the tremendous reporting powers of these products.  I love Power bi and power bi desktop.  I've got the book;I;ve got the tee shirt, if you know what I mean.

I work for a financial institution that has archaic reports generated from older legacy systems, and even more unfortunate is that I have far and away more experience as far as learning about the rapidly evolving BI world.

My problem is this-I have quite a few people in my organization I am educating about the technology, and I need to send these people reports, not dashboards.  I understand the practicality of dashboards, but it also has gimmick component to it, at least for the uneducated jaded masses.  Dashboards seem to be emphasized front and center, and reports seem to be like working pages to splatter visuals on.  Even the training videos here and at other sites, reports are uneven and almost an afterthought.  Please help those of us who are OCD and will spend 5 hrs trying to true up and properly size and format visuals in reports.

The dashboard does a wonderful job of doing so, but please put some training wheels on reports and provide the same powers that dashboard has of offering pristine yet flexible formatting with drag and drop.

Yep, I feel your pain. You have two options (at least two that I can think of right away):

First, send the folks a copy of the URL for the Power BI report - this will take them directly to the report bypassing the dashboard.

Second, use the "Analyze in Excel" functionality to create the reports in Excel and share that workbook
