selectable (cross filtering) reference line in scatterplot

Hello everybody,

In my dataset i have a value that i would like to visualise as a reference line (as 'goal value') on the y-axis of my scatter plot.

The problem is that i have 4 different possible values as 'goal value', and i would like to be able to select only one of them to show in my scatter plot.

Idealy i would like that only the data containing the selected 'goal value' is plotted.

as an example this is what my dataset could look like:

x,  y,  goal value

1,  5,  3

2,  4,  3

3,  4,  4

4,  5,  4

5,  5,  5

6,  5,  6

I can add a reference line in the analytics pane, but only as a static line and not selectable or usable as a filter.

Does anyone have encoutered this problem before and/or can help me with a alternative solution?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Which reference line do you set? If you set a constant line, it is static becaused we set constant values into it. For other reference lines, it worked fine when I tested on my sample.

Can you please share a dummy file? If you can't, please share some screenshots that will make us understand clearly.

Best Regards,

Xue Ding

Thank you for responding,

In the screenshot here you can see my scatter plot, which contains 2 constant lines (in the future more then 2), that i gave a value in the analyse pane.

What i would like is that the user can select one of these lines to be visible in the plot (so not the other lines).

Idealy i would like that when the user select one of these lines, only the data wich contains the value of the selected line are shown in the plot.

(all the lines are a norm which are determined as a value in the data).

I hope that i made more clear what i'm  trying to achieve and what is my problem.
