Hello,
I know there is a million guides online about this I bit of a minefield.
So, I have Power BI desktop with data from an excel file. I publish that to Power Bi Service and also a Teams Site.
How can I do the refresh and publish automatically?
Gateway would be possible but would need my IT dept help and would take ages, can I use Power Automate?
Any ideas?
Thanks
Ross

Hi @rosscortb ,
For refreshing automatically which data source is from excel file, you can set scheduled refresh in Power BI service. Proceed as follows:
1.After the pbix file is published, Gateway is needed to set scheduled refresh. You download the standard gateway. Then you can add a new data source in the gateway. Select or fill in the corresponding information in the red box.
2.Go to the Datasets and select the data source to apply.
3.Then you can set up a scheduled refresh, and it will automatically refresh.
For publishing automatically, I found this similar post which might help you to understand:

Morning
Thank's for your replies.
Just to recap, as I am working from home on a laptop, the personal gateway is installed on my office desktop which I can remote connect to. This was working fine but then i got an error which said that the gateway could not refresh as I was not logged in.
So, is there two types of gateways where one will work without you needing to be logged in?
Thanks
Ross
