"Legend Style": Where art thou?

Hi Everyone,

Can someone help me find the "Legend Style" option in the Line Chart Visual? It doesn't appear to be "available". The feature appeared in the August 2017 feature uddate I believe, but now that I need it it's gone hiding somehwere..

Thanks,

Paul.

I'm having the exact same problem. The ' Legend Style' is missing! I'm tempted to find and install a previous version of Power BI to change a report I've been working on.

So:

  • I uninstalled April's version of Power BI
  • Installed a February version I had still somewhere stored
  • Change the legend style in that same report I was working on before
  • Then updated to April's version again
  • Used the 'Format Painter' to copy the Legend stype to the rest of the report.

Very annoying but it worked.

Hi everyone,

Just a quick note to say that the Legend Style options (Line Chart) are back with the May 2018 update of Power Bi.

Thanks @Anonymous for finding a workaround. albeit a very laborious one!

Hi @PaulDBrown,

I believe you are talking about Line Style (not legeng Style) it appears on the option Shapes in that you can select the line type, the marker shape etc.

Thanks @MFelix for taking the time to help.

I am actually referring to the Legend's Style as seen in the August 2017 New features.

Hi @PaulDBrown

In the marker option you can choose the several options for line and Marker the only thing that doesn't match the August update is the line showing in the legend the markers will update accordingly to your choices.

Thank you, @MFelix,

Yes, I am aware of the line and marker options. The reason for "missing" the Legend Style options is that I have a slightly cluttered line chart, (with solid, dashed and dotted lines). The legend styles allow you to choose whether to display just the markers, only the lines or both, and it makes things easier for the user in my case if the lines are also displayed in the legend.

Thanks again,

Paul.

PS. for some reason this thread seems to have duplicated itself when I edited it, so apologies for that. It seems Microsoft are aware of the "issue" and will come back with an answer.

@MFelix

I must be missing something pretty obvious, becasue I feel really stupid. Here is a screenshot of the graph & the "Shapes" Formatting options. As you can see, the legend is still at the default "marker only" view (whereas I see in your example the line is displayed too). Can you by any chance point out the setting I'm missing?

Thanks again fro your help,

HI @MFelix

I just tried re-doing from scratch bu still no luck. Pretty strange. There must be something I'm not doing right if it works on your side. Maybe Microsoft will find the bug which disabled the "Legend Style" option which was included a few months back.

Thanks for keeping an eye on this thread BTW. Much appreciated.

Regards,

Paul.
