"Column [xx] not found" Error

Hello,

I have been having some when I refresh excel files that power BI is connected to. If I add columns to the excel file, The powerBI becomes inaccessible for refreshes, and all suggestions I have seen previously outlined on this forum have not led to any solutions. I've generally had to just upload the data again (and now despite the additional column it will upload perfectly), and then recreate all my graphs and such.

Has anyone had experience with this problem and found a workaround? Thanks so much in advance for any help.

Hi @blust01,

You should know that Power BI will not refresh the source data automatically. It also means as in your scenario, you are using an excel file as source data and when you add a new column in this excel file. Power BI can not detect this new column and update it. You have to refresh it manually.

I have found a relevant thread and don't know if you have read it. Please make a reference:

Thanks,
Xi Jin.
