@MP_123 - The only requirements for Power BI Desktop are:
This comes from here:

System Requirements
I run Power BI on my Surface 4 Pro with 16GB of memory and it runs fantastic. I would start out with something like a D2 with SSD, 7 GB memory, etc. and see if everything runs OK and then step up to a D3, etc if necessary. I've run Power BI Desktop on an A3, D2, etc. and had good performance but I do not know the size of your data sets, etc. so your mileage may vary.
P.S. Please don't cross post between forums. Thanks.
thanks!
i created vm as sql server 2012 R2
now i want to connect the cube from ssas.. and received this message:
Details: "AnalysisServices: A connection cannot be made. Ensure that the server is running."
do you know whats the problem?
thanks
Hi MP_123,
Based on your description, it seems that you are connecting to cube from SSAS locally, right?
If that is the case, as indicated by the error, SQL Server Analysis Services is not running. Please go to SQL Server Configuration Manager and start SQL Server Analysis Services.
Thanks,
Lydia Zhang
