power BI desktop june 2019: extremely slow, unresponsive

Am I the only one experiencing very slow performance op power BI desktop since the june 2019 update?

renaming a measure, creating a visual with an implicit Sum measure, ... every little click seems extremely unresponsive.

(I am also experiencing a problem with the Microsoft Store version op power BI desktop, where NOT A SINGLE  data source is willing to load. Forcing me to use the MSI version op power BI desktop. I can't figure out how to completely whipe all power BI desktop data and do a clean installation of the Microsoft Store version.)

Did you guys @sebadb9 @wallace13 had any improvement in power bi performance since this post?

Thank you!!

Extremely slow. Measurement, query even just to load the PowerBi

I am having similar issues. I have two instances of Power BI installed on my machine; one from the MS Store and the other is the stand alone version. I have benchmarked the two instances between each other, using the same report, and the MS Store version is incredibly slow. I cannot run the MS Store version (Oct. 2019), where as the standalone is Aug. 2019 (2.72.5556.801).

Hi @sebadb9 ,

Am I the only one experiencing very slow performance op power BI desktop since the june 2019 update?

renaming a measure, creating a visual with an implicit Sum measure, ... every little click seems extremely unresponsive.

Were you attempting to analyse large amount of data?

I am also experiencing a problem with the Microsoft Store version op power BI desktop, where NOT A SINGLE  data source is willing to load. Forcing me to use the MSI version op power BI desktop.

I was not able to reproduce this problem. You may need to create a support ticket for further analysis.

Best regards,

Since the June upgrade all our dashboards run incredibly slow on the Desktop application. It is sometimes taking hours to perform actions like pivots and merges that previously took a few seconds. These dashboards were not changed in any meaningful way to contribute to the slowdown the only change has been the upgrade and it has persisted on new and current dashboards since. I have a suspicion some change was made with the upgrade to throttle the demand on the CPU since despite that the desktop application freezes and spins for hours, CPU usage by the application is only a few percent. Everyone at my company is experiencing the same issue, we are instructing employees who have not upgraded to hold off until Microsoft responds to this issue.
