ordering bars in bar chart

Dear Power BI Community,

This is my first message to this group (which I use a lot as a help when I have a problem) so I hope I'll able able to post to the right place and the right manner so that maybe someone is able to help me  🙂

What do I want to achieve ?

I have a simple bar chart and I need an another ordering of the bars: open // open to recruitment //closed to recruitment - in follow-up // closed, follow-up complete // completed.

the chart with wrong orderthe chart with wrong order

What did I do ?

So I created a new numerical variable Project_Status_Order which has the correct order (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) by status. See below the same graphic witht the legend.

the legend is the order I needthe legend is the order I need

And I did try to apply the following procedure (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-sort-by-column) , and especially the part on "Select which column to use for sorting" which seems very straightforward but for a reason that I do not understand, is not working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, there must be something I don't see...

the procedure how to sort by a loumn - why is this not working ?the procedure how to sort by a loumn - why is this not working ?

Hi @FranceV ,

the sort by column needs to be based on another column on the same table in your case you need to choose the Projects status column and sort it by the column Project_Status_Order
