oracle pipeline query

Hello,

Today morning for the first time I installed powerbi, I  have to get data from Oracle pipelined package, logged into oracle schema, I have the following questions

 1. when i login to oracle, it shows only tables and views, can I not see packages and procedures too ?

2. how can I give a pipeline query to load the data into the powerbi desktop ?

3. Can we drag / drop columns in powerbi ? can we move columns around in powerbi (as we can in discoverer )?

@Greg_Deckler

Actually at least for SQL Server database, both table-valued and scalar functions are listed.

I don't find the functions listed when connecting to Oracle in Power BI desktop. If "a pipeline query" refers to Oracle Pipelined Table Functions, you can set up a query as below.

correct, that is what i am using, pipeline table functions

Unable to Connect

We encountered an error while trying to connect,

however, i get ORA-00911 - invalid character,

@oracle1980

That is an Oracle side error, when say "Unable to Connect", what did you do?

I would turn on Tracing in the Desktop (File | Options and settings | Options | Diagnostics) and then try to connect and then send a frown. The Power BI folks might be able to isolate the issue from the trace logs.

I'm not super familiar with Oracle, but believe I can answer your questions.

1. Yes, the Navigator only shows tables and views, at least that is all I have ever seen in it for various different databases

2. You can enter queries using the "Advanced options" features of the connector (see image below)

3. Yes, in the Query Editor you can drag and drop columns to reorder them
