my data does not show/display

I am new to Power BI. I am an excel guru & do SharePoint Dev, so I thought it would be a breeze.

I am NOT using "deskstop" rather simple log-in service.  All the blurbs say there is really no difference for just messing around.

I cannot even get my raw (uploaded csv) to display. My data is all categorical, no #s except time stamps.

What stupid mistake am I making?

THX.

@dpenny

You can actually somewhat view your data by using a table visual in Power Bi Service. However, as mentioned, Power BI desktop is definitely better for development purpose.

Hi @dpenny,

Definitely use Power BI Desktop. The online version is only for end users that want basic capability to browse through a dataset.

To answer your question, Power BI Online only reads Excel data that have been converted to Tables (ie. CTRL T). Power BI Online will read and understand any table relationships that you have created in Excel as well.

Regards,

DJ

You need to learn some new skills

i suggest you download and use the desktop application - you will find it easier and more like Excel. There is lots of excellent material to get you started. https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/guided-learning/
