measure failed couldn't covnert nvarchar to bit value

Hi, I am trying to compare between the count of claims of this period with the count of last period, and filter them by Accounting Center des, My formula works for the periods but when I try to filter by the AccountingCenterDesc I get an error message:

" Can't convert nvarchar values into data type bit"

My Measure formula is :

Measure =

VAR prev =
    SELECTEDVALUE ( ClaimFactsStag[PrevReportingPeriod] )
RETURN
    CALCULATE (
        DISTINCTCOUNT( ClaimFactsStag[Claim] ),
        ClaimFactsStag[ReportingPeriod] = prev,  ClaimFactsStag[AccountingCenterDesc]
        ALLSELECTED ( ClaimFactsStag )
    )

any suggestions on how to solve this?  If I change data type in my database to varchar would it solve this?
