line chart with selectable legend

Is it possible to create a multi column legend that filters the lines that appear in a line chart?  The following is a mock-up of what I have in mind.

The data is a table with 50 series containing monthly data collected from the last 5 years.

If I create a line chart using the default line chart, it is not possible to modify the legend styling. Furthermore, if I try to use another widget to create a filter, the filter allows me to use the rows as filter items not the columns.

Is there a way to do this? For example create a second table of only the series names and somehow key the legend table to the main table fields?

We have imported  the data in "long" format rather than "wide" format, so we can use the categories as a "filter" on the chart.

As I know, in current Power BI Desktop. It is not supported to add multiple legends to a chart.

In your scenario, do your 50 series have some kind of hierarchy relations? If so, I would suggest you to try the Drill Down feature.

Also, it will be more helpful if you can share us some sample data. So that we can make some proper tests.

Thanks,
Xi Jin.
