how to display one legend field for 2 visualization

Hi,

is there a way to  visualize one Legend field for two neighbouring visualizations where the only difference are the values? Or to have a legend for a whole page? I would not want to repeat which color stands for which attribute two times in two legends. I tried by positioning the legend of one of the visuals on the right, so it stands in the middle, however, in report view it is still considering it as part of the first visual. Might get confusing.

Thanks, Atanas

Hi @t-atgeor,

Based on my understanding, each visual has the same legend values like below, you want to display only one legend field values for both two visuals, right?

In my opinion, one legend for one visual is the best choice. You can image not all visuals have legend values and each visual's legend will not be the same all the time. Also if the page is bigger like in the dashboard, if only one legend for large amount of visuals, it will be hard to distinguish.

In your scenario, as you mentioned, you can set one visual's legend display in the middle of those two visuals, and make them stay closer so that the user may not be confused.

If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

Hi @v-qiuyu-msft, have already thought about this example, as well. However, this will only work well whether I have it in the dashboard. Otherwise, in report view, the user will be confused because of the window boundaries which occur around the graph (where you can turn full screen mode, etc.)

Nevertheless, thanks.

@t-atgeor Just put your legend as image in your report but then you have to be consistent with legend colors.

@HarrisMalik Hi, thanks for responding. That's what I tried, however, looks a bit weird and not very professional at a certain stage. Would have preffered if there was a page layout allowing me to prepare such a legend.
