google analytics - minor difference in numbers

I've read a lot about this issue; when I create a report in dekstop with online services, GA and create a table with date, Channel Grouping and either Pageviews, Sessions or Users non of the metrics match up, how come? It's not big differences but it's annoying!

One month I have 19398 sessions in GA and 19436 in PowerBI?

41866 pageviews in GA and 41206 pageviews in PowerBI?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Based on my research, it is a known issue on GA side, you could refer to below word from PG:

This is not a Power BI issue, it is an issue with Google REST API. Google REST API doesn't return the same data their web UI shows. We have no access to what the Web UI internally does. Google need to fix this, the customer can also reach out to Google and complain about this.

There is nothing to fix in Power BI. Please let the customer know that we are asking Google to fix this issue, but we cannot fix anything since the problem is on Google side.

Hope it could help you.

This is a well known issue with using a PBI connector on top of Google Analytics pre aggregated and sampled data.

I wrote an article about it I recommend you read.

Luckily there is something to do about it 🙂

You need to get access to the data behind the GA API. This is possible using the scitylana.com services.

You can try it out here
