get byte size before buffer

Concerning the M languages Table.Buffer function:

Is there a way to get the byte size of a table before buffering it?  For instance, most desktops in our office have 8GB ram, so I'like to say Table.Buffer if table is < 5GB otherwise fold back to file.

Re: get byte size before buffer

Hi @Jmarshall,

Based on my research, I didn't find a direct M function that supports to calculate the byte size of a table.

However, if you get data source from a folder which contains corresponding size for each file itself, you could refer to this blog to Retrieve file sizes from the file system using Power Query
