I'm trying to get the total sum of open cases per person and the grand total of open cases but I keep getting the function sum cannot work without a string error. I just updated my powerbi so I don't know if updating the version may have something to do with it because this formula worked for the past 2 months and now it does not work. I tried to refresh this data and ended up with this error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Formula - Total Sum = Sum('Open Cases by Agent' [Steve])+Sum('Open Cases by Agent'[Luke])+Sum'Open Cases by Agent' [Jared]))

@cfp Go validate in both the Edit queries portion and the data portion of Power BI that all the data types are of numeric value. There may be an error or text value that slipped into the mix somehow.
Hi @cfp,
If the formula you shared is the formula you used. I 'm afraid that the formula has the syntax error. You should change it like below.
Total Sum = SUM ( 'Open Cases by Agent'[Steve] ) + SUM ( 'Open Cases by Agent'[Luke] ) + SUM ( 'Open Cases by Agent'[Jared] )
If you still need help, please share some your data sample and your desired output so that we could help further on it.
Best Regards,
Cherry
